Completed project

Water flush with the timber

A pool edged with a timber deck and a pale stone terrace
Materials
timber deck · pale paving with fine joints

The project

Sitting on the edge before getting in, with nothing to step over. So the pool is edged in just two materials: a timber deck along the long side and pale paving on the other, both level with the water, with no overhanging coping. The wood runs right down to the edge, and that is where you sit.

The deck runs along the long side and turns back to the corner of the pool; two loungers fit there without getting in the way. On the far side, the pale paving is laid in large formats with fine joints, and the lawn comes in behind it, with no visible edging.

The timber deck comes right down to water level.
The pale paving, in large modules with fine joints.

The wood meets the water level: there is nothing to step over to get in.

You will not look at the water: you will look at the garden behind it.
